SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS AND GOALS

My initial curiosity was about what makes us “us,” what unfolds inside our minds, and how we can interpret it. Over time, I came to realise that the mind and brain are inseparable: understanding one requires understanding both. For this reason, I would like to deepen my work in embodied cognition, applying holistic knowledge to address a variety of problems. Now, my main goal is to investigate neurodegenerative diseases, with a special focus on Alzheimer’s disease, exploring biological mechanisms like genetic factors, brain changes, and the body’s response. Currently, my main goal is to investigate neurodegenerative diseases, with a special focus on Alzheimer’s disease, exploring biological mechanisms such as genetic factors, brain changes, and the body’s responses. Moreover, although Alzheimer’s affects women at a higher rate, female subjects are often underrepresented in studies due to the added complexity of accounting for sex-specific factors. My aim is to help close this gap by studying the mechanisms underlying the higher prevalence of Alzheimer’s in women. In the long term, I hope to advance dementia research and develop innovative, interdisciplinary interventions that address the specific needs and differences of those affected.
