How does an idea become a successful business? How can companies increase their efficiency while maintaining sustainability? What does it mean to run a business responsibly? In our Bachelor's programme in Business Administration, you will gain specialist knowledge and the ability to analyse and solve complex business challenges using academic methods that are analytically sound, theory-driven and, at the same time, applicable in practice. You can tailor your studies to suit your individual needs. You can focus specifically on areas such as management, controlling, marketing or finance, or you can explore a range of subject areas to discover your own interests and talents. With courses taught in German or English, guest lectures from industry, excursions as well as seminars and dissertations with a practical focus, you will build important contacts and prepare for professional life. Our dedicated faculty team will provide comprehensive guidance and support you every step of the way.

  • Introductory courses: Gaining an overview

This phase, which covers the first and second semesters, will provide you with the essential foundational knowledge you need. You will become familiar with fundamental economic issues and problem-solving approaches. In the 'Introduction to Business Thinking and Practice' („Einführung in das betriebswirtschaftliche Denken und Handeln) module, which you will take in your first semester, you will gain an overview of basic economic concepts and methods. You will also be given a 'big picture' and a 'map' of the various areas of business administration. As part of the 'Business Administration in Action' course, you will apply the theoretical knowledge you have learnt directly in a business simulation.

During the first two semesters, you will also acquire fundamental knowledge in key areas of business administration, ranging from accounting and finance to value chain management and digitalisation. You will also develop methodological skills in mathematics, statistics and data science, as well as gaining interdisciplinary insights into related subjects such as law and economics. Furthermore, the foundation programme enables you to explore various aspects of economics. This will help you to discover your own interests and talents and make decisions about your future specialisation.

  • Business management specialisation: Deepening basic knowledge

From the third semester onwards, the introductory phase is followed by the in-depth and specialization phase. This phase begins with the business administration specialisation , consisting of five modules:

    • Corporate Management and Organisation: Learn how companies are managed intelligently and organised effectively using concrete case studies.

    • Artificial Intelligence and Automation: Gain an understanding of AI and automation concepts, technologies and applications, and learn to apply AI methods.

    • Marketing: Acquire a basic understanding of consumer behaviour and market research, and learn to develop a sales strategy.

    • Business Ethics: Gain an understanding of the fundamentals of economic and business ethics, as well as concepts such as corporate responsibility. Learn to analyse management problems from a business ethics perspective, deriving responsible recommendations for action.

    • Controlling: Discover how controlling can support management in achieving corporate objectives from decision- and behaviour-oriented perspectives.

    30 Credits

  • Business specialisation: Building a profile

This section helps you to tailor your studies to your individual interests, as well as to the specific requirements of your chosen subject and career aspirations. You can create your own personalised study plan and prepare for a Master's programme after completing your Bachelor's degree. You can choose from all Business Administration modules, as well as individual Business Informatics modules. The module 'Academic Work with AI' will prepare you for the seminar. During the seminar, you will write a term paper and deliver a presentation. This will enable you to work with current academic publications, improve your ability to argue and discuss, and further develop your written and oral communication skills.

If you choose one of the specialisations within Business Administration, such as “Accounting, Controlling and Finance”, “Marketing and Digital Business”, or “Management”, this will be noted on your Bachelor's degree certificate.

As part of the advanced and specialisation phase, you will also expand your knowledge of quantitative fundamentals further, for example by completing a module in Business Analytics.

39 Credits + 6 Credits Compulsory elective: Quantitative Foundations (Wahlpflicht Quantitative Grundlagen)

  • Business practice: Putting knowledge into practice

In the modules within the 'Business Practice' section, you can apply your learning directly. This begins in the first or second semester with the 'Business Administration in Action' module, in which you will manage a company as part of a business simulation over several weeks, working as a team to tackle issues and make decisions ranging from procurement to sales.

On the 'Sustainability in Practice' course, you will work in small teams to explore a 'Responsible Innovation' topic, conduct independent research, and present your findings in the form of an academic poster at the 'Responsible Innovation Summit'.

We recommend that our students undertake an external internship. Provided certain requirements are met, the internship can be credited towards your degree, earning you 6 credits.

    15 Credits

  • Electives: Deepening interests
