Applying for open PhD positions
The procedures for PhD admission are the following:- in irregular intervals, there are calls for application to PhD positions/scholarships, typically in specific areas.
These are advertised on the university website (see link below) and also on the job server the the EMS (European Mathematical Society). - Typically, only after successfully applying to such a position can one enter the graduate program. At the beginning of this process, students already need to find the thesis advisor.
The only exception is that students would come with their own full financing, e.g.~via a scholarship they won themselves. With their own financing, students have to directly contact and find a potential thesis advisor among our faculty who would have to accept them as PhD student.
