No. 30.6 - 01.10.2026

THE university rankings assess teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook

The most recent World University Rankings by the Times Higher Education (THE) have placed the University of Göttingen 11th in Germany. In the global rankings, it is in 133rd place this year. The University performs very well in the area of research quality, scoring 85 out of a possible 100 points, as it did last year.

The overall score for each university is composed of ratings collected across 17 different categories. These can be broadly divided into the areas of teaching, industry, international outlook, research environment and research quality. THE obtains its raw data from three sources: data provided directly by universities; a global reputation survey conducted amongst academics; and its own analysis of bibliometric databases. In total, just under 2,300 Universities from around the world were assessed.
