07.11. Wissenschaftlich formulieren auf DeutschIn this workshop, you will learn how to express yourself in scientific language in German-language academic texts. To this end, we will first analyze the characteristics of scientific language in authentic texts. The focus will be on expressions that are used in most scientific texts, regardless of the subject area. You will learn in which contexts these expressions are used and what functions they have in the text. You will also practice using such scientific language formulations in your own academic texts.

This course introduces students to writing skills that are important for studying at a German university, such as summarizing, paraphrasing, academic argumentation, analysis, and evaluation. Selected types of academic texts are studied and practiced in terms of their structure and linguistic design. In addition, idioms and grammar relevant to writing academic texts are covered. To earn credits, students must attend both the basic and advanced courses and complete the portfolio.

The aim of this seminar is to show you how to write posts that are suitable for social media. You will learn how to write interesting headlines, teasers, tweets and posts. You will learn about the attributes that make a publication more viral. Through practical exercises, group work and case studies, by the end of the seminar you will be able to make your audience curious on social media and get them to click and share.
