The Campus-Institut Data Science (CIDAS) is an interdisciplinary scientific centre at the University of Göttingen.
It serves as a hub for cross-faculty, campus-wide collaboration in the field of Data Science.
CIDAS coordinates and further develops research, teaching, and knowledge transfer activities in Data Science.
Through interactions among various disciplines, including Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, and numerous application fields,
CIDAS fosters interdisciplinary exchange and positions itself on an international level.
The resources available to CIDAS include financial means, the use of offices and equipment, IT infrastructure, and computing/server capacities.
These resources provide an optimal platform for the development and implementation of Data Science projects for CIDAS members.
CIDAS membership and affiliation is open to employees and students of the University of Göttingen, as well as the institutions of the Göttingen Campus, who share the goals of CIDAS and actively contribute to further developments in teaching, research, and knowledge transfer in Data Science. Employees of the University of Göttingen may become CIDAS members upon recommendation by an existing CIDAS member and by filing an application. Students of the University of Göttingen require acceptance by the Senate. Employees of Göttingen Campus institutions may become affiliates of CIDAS.
Membership is usually granted for five years. CIDAS members are entitled to vote in the election of the CIDAS Board, stand for election to the Board, and use CIDAS resources (e.g., offices, IT infrastructure, equipment, personnel). These resources are available upon request to support collaborations and foster Data Science and digitization projects. Members may also submit proposals for the agenda of the member assembly. Membership obligations include active participation in CIDAS events such as workshops and other scientific meetings, and acknowledging CIDAS (e.g., on websites). Members work towards the CIDAS objectives in research, teaching, and outreach. They also agree to join the CIDAS mailing list, which distributes relevant Data Science-related news.
Affiliates of CIDAS are entitled to participate in the election of the CIDAS Board to elect their representatives, to stand for election to the Board, and may serve in an advisory capacity. Affiliates and associated members may freely attend CIDAS events and have no further obligations. Access to CIDAS resources (rooms, IT, etc.) remains reserved for members and affiliates. Resource applications are decided quarterly by the CIDAS Board, with deadlines on January 31st, April 30th, July 31st, and October 31st.
