Successful Dissertation Defense at the Retail Innovation and Logistics Lab
On Friday, September 12, 2025, Katharina Berendes successfully defended her doctoral dissertation titled "From Bouncing Backward to Bouncing Forward: A Dual-Framing Approach for Supply Chain Resilience Management" at the University of Göttingen.
In her dissertation, Katharina examines how different understandings of resilience shape supply chain management. Her research contributes to the understanding of how various resilience strategies and measures lead to different resilience and performance outcomes — in particular, how the often-discussed trade-off between resilience and efficiency can be avoided. This dissertation was developed within the framework of the Retail Logistics & Innovation Lab.
Following tradition, the achievement was celebrated with the entire team, family, and friends: with a ride in the doctoral carriage through downtown Göttingen, ending at the Gänseliesel fountain on the marketplace.
We warmly congratulate Katharina on this outstanding achievement.
